The film is set to be released on May 23, 2025, and you won't want to miss this reimagined take on a fan-favourite.

Whether you're revisiting Lilo and Stitch’s story or introducing them to a new generation, now’s your chance to experience this classic tale of family and misfit adventure like never before—on the big screen at Ster-Kinekor cinemas.

Why Watch the Live-Action Remake in Cinema?

Sure, streaming the original animated film is a great option, but this live-action remake is an experience built for the big screen. Here’s why it’s the ultimate pick for your next cinema outing:

  • Breathtaking Visuals – With stunning visuals that bring the vibrant Hawaiian landscapes and alien chaos to life, the live-action film offers an immersive cinematic experience you can't get at home. From the sparkling shores of Kaua’i to the quirky charm of Stitch, this movie will pop with a whole new level of excitement and detail on the big screen.

  • A Star-Studded Cast – The new Lilo & Stitch features a talented ensemble cast, including Maia Kealoha as the spirited Lilo, Zach Galifianakis as Dr. Jumba Jookiba, and Chris Sanders reprising his iconic role as Stitch. With original voices and fresh performances, the film blends nostalgia with a fresh take, adding even more heart and humour to the story. We’ll take a closer look at the whole cast later on.

  • Fun for All Ages – Whether it’s your first time seeing this duo on screen or you're a longtime fan, Lilo & Stitch brings something special for every generation. Expect wild antics, heartfelt moments, and a lot of laughs as Lilo and Stitch remind us that family comes in all shapes and sizes.

A Heartfelt Story of Misfits and Family

In this reimagined live-action adventure, Lilo, a young Hawaiian girl, forms an unlikely bond with Stitch, a genetically engineered alien who’s as destructive as he is adorable. As Lilo takes Stitch in, chaos and heartwarming moments ensue, but what really shines through is the true meaning of family.

The remake will delve deeper into Lilo’s life and the grief she’s been hiding since the death of her parents. As Lilo and Stitch’s bond grows, they learn that no matter how unconventional, love and loyalty form the strongest family ties. It’s a fun, wild ride with touching moments that speak to the power of found family and belonging.

Here’s an overview of the cast:

  • Chris Sanders voices Stitch, a blue, koala-like alien experiment (Experiment 626), adopted by Lilo. He is impulsive, unruly, and super strong, described as a furry, cute wrecking ball. Sanders returns to the role he created in the 2002 animated film.

  • Maia Kealoha plays Lilo Pelekai, a six-year-old Native Hawaiian girl who loves hula, surfing, and wildlife, with a special fondness for all things "gross." She is imaginative and rebellious, often facing social challenges. Unlike the original film, Lilo’s parents have been gone for several years, with Lilo hiding her grief behind a fun-loving optimism.

  • Sydney Elizebeth Agudong portrays Nani Pelekai, Lilo’s 18-year-old sister and legal guardian. Nani is intelligent, athletic, and overachieving, but the pressure of caring for Lilo while managing her studies and job puts a strain on her relationship with Lilo’s social worker, risking their separation.

  • Zach Galifianakis plays Dr. Jumba Jookiba, the mad scientist who created Stitch.

  • Billy Magnussen is Agent Pleakley, a Plorgonarian agent sent to Earth to prevent Jumba from harming its life forms while pursuing Stitch. Pleakley and Jumba use hologram projections to appear human.

  • Kaipo Dudoit as David Kawena, an 18-year-old Hawaiian college student and surfer who is kind to Nani and performs the fire knife dance.

  • Tia Carrere plays Mrs. Kekoa, a practical social worker who regularly checks in on Nani’s progress and is aware of her struggles to balance her responsibilities. Carrere originally voiced Nani in the animated film.

  • Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles, a federal agent assigned to capture Stitch.

  • Hannah Waddingham voices the Grand Councilwoman, the alien leader of the United Galactic Federation, who orders the capture of Stitch after his escape.

  • Amy Hill as Tūtū, a warm and witty Hawaiian grandmother who is the Pelekais' neighbor and David’s grandmother. Tūtū is a new character for this film, as David’s family was not included in the original.

  • Jason Scott Lee as a lūʻau manager. Lee previously voiced David in the original film and its sequel.
