Hakuna Matata, as a lifestyle, makes you braver. Because you’re fully present and not worried or anxious, you can make bold decisions. For example, Timon and Pumbaa were quite brave when they decided to help a despondent young Simba. They could have left him for dead, but they nursed him back to health and contributed a great deal to the king he would end up becoming.

Closer to our world, remaking a beloved classic like The Lion King was a risky move but Walt Disney Studios and director Jon Favreau persevered, even after the speculation and criticism for the live-action format. His risk paid off as thus far, the film has grossed over $ 500 million worldwide.

It’s okay to be an outcast. Timon and Pumbaa were both outcasts, for reasons that are never fully explained. Simba was unfairly thrown out of his tribe. What should have been the end for him, propelled him to become a great king. Similarly, many great leaders and musicians such as Steve Jobs or Prince, were often seen as outsiders. And it’s this exclusion that allowed them to make a difference.

Unlikely friendships matter. The strangeness of a warthog, a meercat and a lion becoming friends is glaringly obvious, but it works! It’s far easier to stick with who and what you know but expanding your circle teaches you far more than what you can learn in your comfort zone.
