Meet Billie and Alice: The Story Behind HexedAt the heart of the story is Billie, an impulsive, free-spirited teenager who has always felt a little out of place. Her mum, Alice, is far more careful and likes things calm. When Billie accidentally sets off secret magical powers, she gets pulled out of her ordinary suburban life and into Hexe, a wild magical realm. Along the way, she uncovers family secrets that could change the world of witches for good. It is a story about a mother and daughter figuring each other out, which makes it easy for parents and kids to enjoy together.

The Voices and the Team Behind the Film

Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie, and Rashida Jones plays Alice. Tracey Ullman voices Ms. Quill, a talking enchanted feather pen, while Stephen Fry is the magical journal, Elias Quire. Behind the camera, the film is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand, with Josie Trinidad as co-director. It is also the 65th animated feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios, so there is a lot of studio history behind it.

Why Hexed Belongs on the Big Screen

Animated adventures are made for a giant screen. Bold colours, a whole magical realm and big emotional moments all feel bigger in a dark cinema with great sound. Watching with the family makes it even better, with popcorn in hand and a full room laughing at the same moments. That kind of shared fun is hard to match on the couch at home.
