The Bad Guys 2 – Back to Steal the Spotlight (Again)

Lock your doors, hide your doughnuts—The Bad Guys are back, and they’re wilder, slicker, and more lovable than ever! Hitting Ster-Kinekor cinemas on 1 August 2025, The Bad Guys 2 picks up where the mischief left off, with our favourite reformed villains stumbling into another whirlwind adventure they probably caused in the first place.

This isn’t just a sequel. It’s a full-throttle return to chaos, charm, and criminally good comedy.

DreamWorks Is at It Again

When DreamWorks makes a sequel, they don’t play it safe—they go bigger, bolder, and badder. Known for hits like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon, DreamWorks brings the same high-energy magic to The Bad Guys 2.

Expect laugh-out-loud moments, jaw-dropping animation, and that perfect mix of heart and heist energy. Whether you’re five or forty-five, this is the kind of animated chaos that speaks to every inner troublemaker.

Here’s your synopsis:

The Bad Guys 2 follows the crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws who are struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys. However, they're pulled out of retirement and forced to do "one last job" by an all-female squad of criminals.

What’s Cooking in the Criminal Underworld (Besides Trouble)?

Without spoiling too much: our “bad” boys—Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr. Piranha, and Ms. Tarantula—are trying their best to stay on the straight and narrow. But when a mysterious new villain steps into the scene, the crew is forced to face the age-old question: once bad, always bad?

Here’s the full voice-cast:

        Sam Rockwell as Mr. Wolf

Cool, cunning, and always in control (at least on the surface), Mr. Wolf leads the crew with charm and swagger. Rockwell returns to voice the smooth-talking ringleader who might just be ready to walk the line between bad and good—if his heart doesn't trip him up first.

        Marc Maron as Mr. Snake

As Mr. Wolf’s sharp-tongued best friend and the group’s second-in-command, Mr. Snake brings the sarcasm, the sneer, and a lot of emotional complexity. Maron lends his dry wit and surprising depth to the slithery sidekick who’s not too keen on this whole “hero” business.

        Craig Robinson as Mr. Shark

Master of disguise? Believe it. Craig Robinson is back as the lovable Mr. Shark, whose ridiculous costumes and even more ridiculous confidence steal every scene. He may look intimidating, but inside he’s a softie with serious comedic chops.

        Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha

The muscle of the team, Mr. Piranha is fiery, loyal, and just a little bit unpredictable. Ramos voices the pint-sized powerhouse with a big heart—and even bigger bursts of flatulence-fueled panic. When things go sideways, he’s the first one charging in.

Awkwafina as Ms. Tarantula aka “Webs”

Don’t let the eight legs fool you—Webs is the fastest hacker in the game. Awkwafina returns as the tech-savvy tarantula whose sharp tongue is only matched by her sharper skills behind a keyboard. If the Bad Guys are in trouble, she’s their first line of (web) defence.

Enter the Bad Girls

A new crew of chaos-makers joins the fray—and they’re here to challenge the boys in more ways than one.

        Danielle Brooks as Kitty Kat

Cool under pressure and twice as fierce, Kitty Kat is the snow leopard leading the Bad Girls. Brooks brings fierce leadership and sly confidence to the role, matching Mr. Wolf move for move. If he thought he was in charge, think again.

        Natasha Lyonne as Doom

With her raspy voice and chaotic energy, Lyonne gives life to Doom—a mysterious raven and a wildcard in every way. She's sharp, unpredictable, and also happens to catch the eye of Mr. Snake, much to everyone’s surprise.

        Maria Bakalova as Pigtail

Bakalova voices the team’s wild card: Pigtail, a wild boar with a flair for destruction and absolutely zero chill. When the fur flies, you’ll want her on your side—just don’t stand too close.

Supporting Cast

Zazie Beetz as Governor Diane Foxington

Returning as the state’s top official—and Mr. Wolf’s maybe-something-more—Governor Foxington is trying to keep the peace while hiding her past as the elusive Crimson Paw. Beetz brings charm and quiet strength to the red fox with secrets of her own.

        Richard Ayoade as Professor Marmalade

The pint-sized guinea pig with a God complex, Marmalade is back—and maybe not as reformed as he claimed. Ayoade’s dry, refined delivery makes this villain’s return feel as delightfully sinister as ever.

        Lilly Singh as Tiffany Fluffit

Singh returns as the ever-eager human news anchor who’s always chasing a scoop—especially when it comes to the latest antics of the Bad Guys (and now, the Bad Girls).

        Alex Borstein as Misty Luggins

Formerly a tough-talking police chief, Luggins has now been promoted to commissioner. But don’t expect her to soften up—Borstein plays her with the same bulldog grit and a suspicious eye still locked on the Bad Guys.

        Jorge R. Gutierrez

In a surprise cameo, the acclaimed animator and filmmaker lends his voice to an undisclosed character—expect it to be weird, wonderful, and unforgettable.
