It is a coming of age film which revolves around the heartwarming story of a mother and her son who encounter various challenges but always maintain their unwavering hope. The protagonist Shankar unravels his own self leading to a journey of self-discovery and unexpected revelations. A mischievous son who is failing exams makes an attempt after his mother wagers on him to pass but he realises about efforts when they are evicted from the house.
WALUD - 2014: Amuna and her husband Aziz, an ISIS fighter, live as shepherds in the rural Syrian desert. When he takes a very young, European ISIS convert as his second wife, Amuna's everyday life is thrown into turmoil. WALUD ولود is an Arabic adjective and describes the potential to create new life. In relation to humans, it refers to pregnancies and the possibility of bearing many children.
FOR HIS SAKE - For His Sake explores the lives of Faizel and his son, Shuaib, who own and run Art’s Barber Shop, a third-generation business in the heart of Ida’s Valley, Stellenbosch. This short documentary delves into the relationship between fathers and sons, emphasising themes of generational legacy and the importance of family.
DOU - Dou is a contemporary adaptation of a Chinese folktale from the 18th-century tale collection Liaozhai. After a young piano teacher falls victim to her dictatorial husband's abuse, she transforms into a fox and haunts the spaces of the living.
