Unlearning the Script Shorts Block brings together three films that challenge inherited narratives and reimagine how identity, memory, and belonging are constructed. In Amigo The Griot (Dirs. Kurt Orderson & Mario Laaistock), music and storytelling become tools of healing and self-definition for a blind Afrikaaps MC navigating sound, memory, and survival in the Cape Flats. Sonder (Dir. Thuthuka Sibisi) moves through Johannesburg hostels where Black queer masculinities are shaped under surveillance, constraint, and fragile forms of intimacy. Before They Sold the Sky (Dir. Kai Reynolds) reflects on forced removals in Cape Town, tracing how land and memory continue to hold the weight of erased histories. Together, the films open up spaces of reflection on how we unlearn, reframe, and reclaim the stories that shape us. (13PGSVN)
