Where We Gather Shorts Block brings together six short films that explore the intimate spaces where people connect, create, and make sense of one another. In Concerto (Dir. Jurg Slabbert), a pianist confronts memory, illness, and artistic endurance through a deeply personal performance. talking to Family (Dir. Kwei Shun-Yu) traces a return home marked by distance, grief, and shifting generational ties. Her Khaltsha (Dir. Robyn Phillips) follows a group of young women in Khayelitsha building freedom and sisterhood through cycling, while Curtain Call (Dirs. Kyla Laing & Marise Schoonraad) reveals the emotional intensity behind a theatre production. The Hands that Feed (Dirs. Kiara Wales & Anke Spies) turns its attention to the unseen labour behind a restaurant kitchen, and My Jebba Story (Dir. Kagho Idhebor) captures a Lagos street as a living archive of memory, image, and everyday exchange. Together, these films reflect on the everyday acts—of care, labour, art, and memory—through which communities are formed and sustained. (10PG)
